If you are married abroad, have a nationality other than Dutch, it is still possible to divorce in the Netherlands. There are certainly additional matters involved when it comes to the applicable law in various cases, but we can help you with that.
Divorce mediation in the Netherlands is a highly encouraged and often effective way for couples to separate amicably and make agreements about the consequences of their divorce. It’s a collaborative process that prioritizes open communication and finding solutions that work for both parties, especially when children are involved.
Rohany is experienced in guiding (ex-)partners through divorce with care and clarity. Divorce is often a stressful and emotional time, filled with uncertainty and difficult decisions. This can be even more overwhelming when you’re living in a different country. If children are involved you’ll also need to create a parenting plan that meets legal requirements in the Netherlands.
As your mediator, Rohany helps create structure and calm in the process. You’ll receive professional support tailored to your needs, helping you reach fair and respectful agreements—together. Mediation offers a safe, constructive way to move forward, even in challenging circumstances.
A divorce is complex, especially for expats. Many important decisions must be made during an emotional time, and the added complexity of different nationalities, law and marriage locations often raises the question: Can we divorce in the Netherlands? It is essential to determine which law applies in your case. Rohany will guide you through this process step by step, providing structure and clarity.
Meetings are held at your home, creating a comfortable space for open conversation. Appointments can be scheduled during the day or evening. Both partners attend every meeting to ensure everyone has the same information. If preferred, meetings can also take place at a neutral location, provided by Rohany.
Do you have minor children? Together, we will create a parenting plan tailored to your family’s needs. This plan may include arrangements for child support and visitation schedules. Children naturally react differently to divorce and may have questions or worries. For this reason, it’s possible for Rohany to have a separate conversation with your children, giving them a safe space to express their feelings with an independent third party.

Rohany guided me very well through my divorce. Before each session, she clearly explained what was expected. I found her easy to talk to, clear in her communication, and the sessions were always well-structured. I would definitely recommend her.
Divorce is never easy, but when everything is handled smoothly and quickly without hassle, it takes a big weight off your shoulders. I would definitely recommend ResolveVisie Mediation if anyone asked.

It’s difficult to say in advance exactly how long the process will take or how many sessions will be needed. Much depends on how much you agree with each other on various matters. The mediator does not set the pace — you do. Based on experience, it usually takes at least two months before the divorce can be officially filed with the court. Typically, three to five sessions of about an hour and a half each are needed. After that, the timing of the final divorce ruling depends on the court’s schedule, which can often be relatively quick — sometimes within just a few weeks.
Nobody wants a bitter, ‘fight-filled’ divorce. You can prevent this by staying in conversation and identifying your shared interests — for example, the well-being of your children. By also recognizing and acknowledging what is going well, understanding often grows, creating space to find solutions together. Communication can be difficult during a divorce, but it’s important to maintain good communication both during and after the process.
